HAMSA

We are looking for caring and responsible volunteers to accompany participants of the Hamsa Program throughout their army service. The volunteer will serve as a supportive personal figure—someone the soldier can turn to for help, guidance, or simply to talk. Your presence is an essential part of the support system for every lone soldier. Each volunteer will be assigned 3–5 soldiers or as your time allows.
Responsibilities:
• Weekly phone call with your assigned soldiers.
• Monthly in-person meeting with each soldier (at least once a month).
• Participation in Hamsa events (held once per quarter).
• Attendance at significant events in the soldiers’ service, such as graduation ceremonies (typically once or twice a year per soldier).
• Participation in Hamsa team meetings (in person or online, every 2–3 weeks).
• Ongoing communication with the Hamsa team, including weekly reports.

about
the organization

The Hamsa Program is a year-long initiative that accompanies lone soldiers from around the world. The program emphasizes personalized support for each soldier, beginning from the initial stage of planning their arrival in Israel to volunteer in the IDF and continuing up to a year after the completion of their military service. Hamsa places special focus on the soldiers’ emotional well-being and provides a support network that includes a host family, a social worker, a Hamsa mentor, and connections with their family in their country of origin.

We are seeking volunteers to accompany lone soldiers and serve as a meaningful part of their support network. The work is flexible in both days and hours and takes place across the country.
